Fenella Kernebone is the Head of Curation for TedxSydney responsible for leading the programming for what has become one of the largest Tedx events in the world. In her first year, more than 4000 people attended in June 2017 at ICC Sydney. In 2018, there were more than 5000 people in the audience, with Fenella hosting sessions one and four. For TEDxSydney, Fenella manages a team of over 20 curators and producers dedicated to spreading great ideas and strong stories in fields including science, technology, arts, business and design. Fenella is also responsible for the programming of TEDxYouth@Sydney, TEDxSydney's Salon series and Pitch Nights.
Fenella is also a noted television and radio presenter and producer with a distinguished career working across arts, music, design and culture. Her hosting roles have included Radio National’s By Design, The Sound Lab on Triple J, Art Nation and Sunday Arts on ABC TV, The Movie Show on SBS TV, It's a Long Story for the Sydney Opera House Podcast (2017), TEDxSydney Livestream (2014, 2015, 2016) and TEDxSydney Adventure Series (2016 & 2017).
From 2011 – 2014 Fenella hosted Radio National’s By Design program, interviewing Australian and international architects, designers, city planners and beyond.
She was also the host of Triple J’s cult electronic music show, The Sound Lab, which she started in 2003 – wrapping up at the end of 2014 after 11 years on air. Prior to this she hosted Triple J’s youth arts show, Artery.
In 2010 -2011, Fenella was the host of Art Nation on ABC TV and prior to that, presented and produced on the previous arts show, Sunday Arts. In these roles she has interviewed scores of international and Australian artists, performers, musicians, film makers such as Ang Lee, Clive James, Tracy Emin, Bill Viola, James Blake and many others. She has also hosted two documentaries on ABC TV’s Artscape, interviewing Australian designer, Marc Newson and The Kronos Quartet.
From 2004 – 2005, Fenella was one of the hosts of The Movie Show on SBS TV where she reviewed hundreds of films and reported from all the major Australian film festivals, the Berlin and Toronto Film Festivals, Tokyo and New York as well as interviewing numerous filmmakers and actors, including Michel Gondry, Tilda Swinton, Heath Ledger, Isabelle Huppert and Keanu Reeves to name a few.
In the land of podcasts, in 2015 Fenella produced and presented a 11 podcast series called Trackwork, interviewing Australian musicians and artists about the production process. Other radio presenting roles include guest presenting RN’s The Inside Sleeve; The J Files on Double J and RN’s Weekend Arts. She hosted a season of the Sydney Opera House's podcast, It's a Long Story during the 2017 Vivid Festival interviewing musicians such as Briggs, Camp Cope and others. Midway through 2018, Fenella has started working on a new podcast as the host and co-producer which will be released later in the year.
As the host of the TedxSydney livestream broadcast over 3 years from 2014 - 2016, Fenella anchored the live broadcast for a local and international audience and was simulcast live on TV, Radio to a huge online audience.

Fenella has been invited over the years to speak at a number of conferences including recent talks for CEB, TFE Hotels, Kambala School and others. Fenella has also recently been helping others find their voice as public speakers. This includes working with companies such as oOh! Media, Diageo, IAG and Prezee. She has also worked closely with academics from University of Sydney for their Raising the Bar event + Innovation week.

As an MC, Fenella is frequently asked to compere events and awards nights, known for her warm, intelligent and engaging approach as well as her ability to keep proceedings moving smoothly. Fenella has hosted countless panels and conferences throughout her career including PWC featuring the NSW Premier, Acer, TEXT, Leo Burnetts, State Library of NSW, Sydney City Council, AECOM, Bradfield College, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, Vivid Ideas; Sydney Writers Festival; Perth Writers Festival, Wheeler Centre, Sydney Ideas, Guildhouse SA; Form WA; Historic House Trust, NSW; Art Space, Sydney; National Gallery of Victoria; Blacktown Arts Centre; Mona Foma in Hobart; Willoughby Council, Sydney; Art Month, Sydney; Art Gallery of NSW; Byron Bay Writers Festival; GOMA, Brisbane … the list goes on!
In 2015, Fenella produced and hosted a three part series for the Art Gallery of NSW called Point Click Chat featuring guests such as Alison Page, Casey Legler, Myf Warhurst and David Hunt. In 2013 she curated and hosted the first series of “Art on the Rocks” at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. This energetic and entertaining three part series explored our relationship to art, design, how we live in the city and more. Panelists included Hannah Gadsby, Tara Moss and Ben Quilty. She also hosted another three part series exploring designers whose work has a direct impact on the human body at the Australian Design Centre in 2013.
Fenella has appeared on a number of jury’s and advisory committees. These include Australian Women in Music Awards, Australia Council Peer Assessor Advisory Council, 2016 National Architecture Awards Jury; 2015 Australian Furniture Design Award, 2015; NSW Architecture Awards (residential alterations & additions) in 2013 and 2015; the National Peer Review Panel for the Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship 2014; selection committee for the British Council’s, Realise Your Dream Awards (2011-2013). She was an Ambassador for the 2015 Cossack Art Awards near Karratha WA and the 2015 Sydney Architecture Festival. She was named as a recipient of the Australian Design Honours, through the Australian Design Centre for her contribution to Australian design as a broadcaster.
